BONAPARTISM
In this project, we sought out to compare revolutions from different time periods to see if they followed the same pattern, Bonapartism. The two revolutions we compared were the late 1700's French revolution and the 2011 Egyptian revolution. We studied the social classes of each revolution and how they impacted the outcome of the country. To fully understand the breakdown of each revolution, we watched documentaries such as, "The Square" and read primary sources dating back to the 1700's. On top of this, we watched actual footage from people protesting in Egypt and analyzed quotes from Napoleon himself. Overall, this project was a great experience for me because I was able to critically analyze sources and dig for the truth. Below is a video of a monologue about a moderate bourgeoisie during the first stage of the French revolution that I wrote and acted in.

Evenings Thoughts
Props- Nice white shirt with vest, Wine glass, Fake wine, News paper
(Sits down in chair with a large groan) Edgar my son! Pour me some wine. I have had a wretched day in the office and I wish to relax. Fetch today's news pamphlet while you are at it. (Turns to camera) Being a lawyer in this town is torture. As a member of the bourgeoisie I feel obligated to support the 3rd estate but these people get themselves into all kinds of trouble. The third estate is seen as a stain on French society. I don’t want to be looked down upon any longer. The cold glare of the nobles will no longer make us feel insignificant.

Intro Paragraph - Final Essay
Is El Sisi a Bonaparte Figure?
The Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and 1800’s French dictator Napoleon Bonaparte, shared many characteristics in each of their regimes. Both of them used their army general status to come into power with a military coup. The two had a tight grasp on the media and controlled the information that was being given to the public. Although they resembled one another, El-Sisi and Napoleon were not completely alike. For example, Napoleon embraced the clergy as well as catholicism and thought that religion would strengthen their government. On the other hand, El-Sisi destroyed the islamists in power and massacred their followers. Together they shared many qualities yet they were not completely alike.
